Wore For: Anime North 2002
Description: Tonde Boorin is a kawaii mahou shoujo anime that was released in 1994/1995. And I'm getting all the DVD boxes! WAI!! XD Ahem, anyhoo, back to the costume... ^^;;; The head was made from a lamp shade, with cotton batting stretched over it, then the pink fleece. Two holes were cut for the eyes (my dad clipped out two of the wire things in the lamp shade). The eyes were made of plastic craft screen (this is what I saw out of). The plastic was painted with craft paint to create colour for the eyes (hee, I painted them during the Canadian men's gold metal olympic game). The bow was stuffed with cotton, and the blue ball was styrofoam. The pattern for the body was actually the lion from The Wizard of Oz. ^^;;; Altered a bit, of course. The cape (you can't see it in this picture, but the outside colour was red, and the inside colour blue) was also made from the lion pattern, but altered quite a bit. The red circle with "bu" in the centre was made from felt. The hoof gloves and boot covers were made from a darker pink fleece than the costume itself. The body of the costume was stuffed with cotton (actually, it was a sort of cotton-stuffed pillow that hooked to the inside of the fleece, and went around the middle of my body). Man, this costume was hot. ^^;; But it was worth it! I won my first two cosplay awards ever with this costume!! WAI!! XD XD XD I won Best in Show Anime North 2002, and a workmanship award for Best use of a lampshade. ^_^v Yes, they obviously made that lampshade one up. ^^;;; But I won best in show!! Can you believe that? The top prize! Kyaaa! And I didn't even plan on winning a prize. o.o;;; I just dressed up as Boorin because I love her so much. ^_^ For my masquerade performance, I danced around on stage to the first part of Boorin a la Mode (the ED song). The audience seemed to like it. ^_^; | |
