Worn For: Anime North 2000
Description: Wai!! Sakura-chan! **^_^** I know I was 20 when I first wore it, and that Sakura is between 10-13 in the manga, but I don't care! I wanted to be be Sakura-chan! ^o^ I chose the natsufuku (summer school uniform) for a few reasons. I really like it, I knew everyone would be cosplaying the winter uniform, and a battle costume would have been much more complicated. o.o; Since I suck at sewing, I asked my mom to sew it for me. ^^;; I did help, though. I sewed the tie and the Tomoeda Shogakko emblem on the back. ^_^;; We found a "sailor" blouse pattern in Fabricland, and used it for the shirt, with some obvious alterations. Namely, the puffy sleeves, and the long "v" tails of the collar, as well as the white bib on the front. The skrit was bought from a second-hand store. ^^;; Details: You can't see it very well in the picture, but I had the puffy hat!! ^_^ I bought the seal wand the previous September (I have a little obsession with mahou shoujo wands...you should see my Sailormoon collection... o.O;), and had that along with me at the con. The socks were bought from The Bay, and the shoes were bought from ALDO. :) Probably the biggest thing I did for the costume was cut my hair. Yes, I got a Sakura-chan hair cut. ^_^ I went to the hairdresser's, and brought along some manga and artbooks to show her what I wanted. It turned out really well, though the bangs were probably the most annoying thing. o.o; I had such a good time wearing this costume! ^_^ I wore it on Friday at Anime North 2001, too. ^_^ | |
